Belfort, between history and modernity, is crossed by the Savoureuse, a river that shapes the city and its atmosphere. This waterway, rising at the Ballon d'Alsace, is intimately linked to the Cité du Lion. Once diverted by Vauban, it allowed the city to expand, offering today spaces for relaxation and strolling right in the urban heart.
A walk on the left bank: Nature and serenity
For a peaceful break, the Square du Souvenir is an ideal spot. Sit on a bench with a book, let the children play at the playground, or admire the recent statue of the Poilu, a tribute to Belfort's military past. This green space invites relaxation and contemplation.
A lively atmosphere on the right bank
On the other side of the river, Place Corbis offers a livelier atmosphere. Its pedestrian area with fountains is very popular with families and strollers on sunny days. The Granit theatre, partly renovated by Jean Nouvel, enlivens the neighbourhood with its shows and its café, popular in the evening.
The Hôtel Les Capucins, located near the banks of the Savoureuse, is the perfect base for exploring this natural and urban side of the city. Book your stay and let yourself be charmed by Belfort!
